The Central Valley Arson Investigators Association (CVAIA) was established in 1968. It is a professional organization comprised of public and private industry investigators. CVAIA provides training opportunities and professional peer review on a continuous basis.

The organization holds an annual Advanced Explosives Recognition class at the Tulare International Agri-center. This class provides basic recognition for domestic improvised explosive devices that fire and law enforcement officers may come in contact with during their regular duties. There are esteemed speakers that give classroom instruction, as well as the Visalia Bomb Squad conducting the live fire demonstration.
